Check battery,fuel,spark. If you have all 3 items then you need to check starter. Also check the transponder in your key ....make sure it is working and communicating with cars computer or it will never crank. Without more information on the subject this is a vague answer
Unfortunately you need a EBDII diagnostics tool to check what the light means, it could be many things. You can purchase a cheap, simple one from an auto store, or off ebay. The engine will sometimes protect itself by limiting the revs, 'limp home mode'. A common fault is the Lambda O2 sensor, not working. So the engine cannot work out the correct fuel injection. Not life threatening to the engine, but it would not pass an emission test.
self levers have a switch on the suspension that controls the lights position. i would check this is working first as when they go it can make the lights go up and down all the time.

The did away with the central locking module. It's all built into the BCM now. That small motor is a solenoid, that's probably your problem. It only takes a moment of charge to open it.

Having said that, I have never heard of anyone suffering inconvenience, breakdown or large unscheduled expenses by changing the belt early. When you do it , dont cheapskate it. Do the tensioners , they are the cause of many of the problems anyway, by siezing and frying the belt.
