what dies it need
My daughter used her Equinox to jump another vehicle, afterwards the steering was stiff and the service stabilitrack light was on. The 80 amp fuse (GM part number 2268-9708) was blown.
The real reason for the blown fuse was that she did not connect the jumper cables to the battery but rather across the 80 amp fuse. The cover over the fuse box has a red + sign on it and thus she thought it was the battery. The battery is harder to get to, as it has an electronics module mounted on top of the battery cover. The battery is immediately forward of the fuse box. I wonder how many others have blown the fuse because of incorrectly connected jumper cables.....

I have a 2007 Equinox. For the past 2 weeks the engine light is on as well as "Service Stabilitrak-Reduced engine power". When I step on the accelerator, the car takes a while to get to a decent speed. It almost feels like it its in neutral. What could it be?
the engine light is a generic fault indicator in your car to point out something is not quite right with the engine, having a loss of power as well is also known in some areas as Limp Mode or Safety Mode. it means the car is restricting the power it gives to ensure no damage it done to the engine.
the only certain way to find out what is wrong is to take it to a garage that has diagnostics equipment that can read the fault codes from the vechicles ECU (the fault codes will be the reason the light on the dash has come on as its reporting a fault somewhere)..
your mechanic should be able to tell you what is wrong with the engine from that and give you a more accurate cost at fixing it.

why does stabilitrak light come on saying service stabilitrak, stabilitrak off?
It's telling you your stabilitrak system is not functioning properly. Sensors in system are failing and setting service light. You need a GM dealer to diagnose system.

I have a 2007 chevy equinox LS and my stabiltrak light is on and my steering wheel is hard to turn
Your vehicle has electric power steering !
The Electric Power Steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, power steering motor rotational sensor, power steering motor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, and the GMLAN serial data circuit to perform the system functions. The PSCM and power steering motor are each serviced separately from the steering column assembly. However, the motor rotational sensor is serviced as part of the power steering motor, and the torque sensor is serviced as part of the steering column assembly. The PSCM also monitors vehicle speed from the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. At low speeds more assist is provided for easy turning during parking maneuvers. At higher speeds less assist is provided for improved road feel and directional stability.
Stability System Indicator
The IPC illuminates the stability system caution indicator when one or more of the following conditions exists. The EBCM sets any one of many VSES-disabling DTCs. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting illumination.
Traction Control System Indicator
TRAC OFF
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the TRAC OFF indicator when the following occurs:
?€¢
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system due to a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a serial data message from the EBCM requesting illumination.
?€¢
The Body Control module (BCM) detects that the traction control switch has been pressed (signal circuit is low). The Body Control module (BCM) sends a serial data message to the EBCM in order to disable traction control. The IPC receives a serial data message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The BCM sends a serial data message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
Your best bet is to take it to a ASE certified an qualified repair shop ,that has the diagnostic tool to fix this problem .

I have these codes coming up and the service dept couldn't tell me what they meant when I was there...I am taking it in in a few days but I seriously thought they could tell me what they meant. In the meantime I am sticking close to home and not going far.
P0016 is the crankshaft position (CKP) to intake camshaft position
correlation; P0017 is the exhaust camshaft position correlation.
P0016 sets when 'The ECM detects 8 of the last
10 cam sensor pulses occur during the incorrect crankshaft position."
P0017 sets when 'The ECM detects 25 out of the last 35 cam
revolutions occur with 2 cam sensor pulses outside the CKP window."
Basically, you're getting pulses when they
shouldn't happen, from both cam sensors, or the CKP is generating incorrect
window info. Since the CKP is the common element, it's probably the culprit.
The cam position sensors are at the back of
the head, one on each side corner. The CKP is under the oil filter housing,
above the starter. To replace the CKP, you're supposed to remove the intake
manifold and starter.

how to remove the front seat of a chevy equinox?
Haven't worked on yours, but all the newer GM's have two bolts in the back part of the seat, at the floor board. Push the seat forward, remove the covers , if any, remove the bolts, tilt the seat up and pull back on it. This should get it out.
