2008 Check Engine light is on I have 25.700 miles

It could be something as simple as a loose fuel cap. The light tells you there is a trouble code stored in the car's computer that is waiting to be read. Major auto parts stores have code readers and will read out your code for free. With the code you can start to diagnose the problem.

Check engine light on and

Their is a fault with the electronics on one of the vehicles electrical circuits, or one of the sensors is activated and reading a mechanical fault. This will bring up the malfunction indicator light, you will need to see a dealer with an electronics reader to find out what this fault code is meaning. Some dealers will read it for free, and then charge for the repair from that point. If it was a false code they will also reset it for free, althogh i have heard some dealers can charge up to $100. OR you can even hire a fault code reader from an automotive parts store and read it yourself. If it is an orange light, just get it to a dealer when you are able to. If it is a red light, avoid driving it and get to a dealer ASAP. this will prevent any further possible electrical damage and any other mechanical damage from what ever the fault maybe. Also, their is a safety issue if the fault is relating to a safety feature of the car. It is hard to pin point an exact fault and exact cost. Cost will vary with the type of fault. Once repaired, the dealer will be able to reset the light for you. Goodluck

I have a 2008 kia rio , the radio goes on but the

What has happened is that the bulb behind the face plate of the radio has gone out and it needs to be replaced. This happens to a lot of car radios, and is fairly easy to repair. Once you have removed the radio, you can then take the face plate off and then you will be able to access the bulb. I would recommend checking the filament to see if it is burnt in two (2) and if it is then it needs to be replaced. If that is not the case then it may just need to be plugged back in as they do have a tendency to lose connectivity over time and that may resolve the issue. If you do not feel comfortable taking the radio apart then you can take it to an electronics repair shop and they cans do that for you. I would recommend getting an estimate prior to the work being performed as you may just want to consider getting an aftermarket unit. They are easy to install and most places will install them for little to nothing if you purchase the radio from them. I hope that this information was helpful as that is my goal.

Well you're right it is not a battery problem, get diagnostics done on the proper computer as this sounds like one of the sensors is faulty or at least dirty.

INGITION KEY LOCK CYLINDER ON 2008 KIA RIO HOW TO

Hi!!
Here is the info you requested. Good Luck!! and Don't forget to rate this post!! To remove the ignition lock:
CAUTION
You must remove the steering wheel when replacing the ignition lock. On vehicles with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, you must temporarily disable the SIR system and remove the inflator module when removing the steering wheel. Leaving the SIR system on could result in deployment of the air bag and possible personal injury.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable, and remove the steering wheel.
  • Remove the bumper and the carrier snapring retainer from the steering shaft.
  • Use a lock plate compressor screw tool to install the lock plate compressor screw in the upper steering shaft. To keep the shaft from telescoping, tighten it to 40 inch lbs.
  • Using the lock plate compressor tool, install on the upper steering shaft, tighten it to depress the shaft lock. Remove the shaft lock retainer, the compressor tool and the steering shaft lock.
  • Remove the turn signal canceling cam assembly. Put the turn signal switch in the "N" position and remove the upper bearing spring.
  • Position the turn signal switch so the mounting screws can be removed through the holes in the switch and remove the turn signal lever.
  • Remove the turn signal switch-to-steering column screws and lift the turn signal switch. Remove the wire protector and disconnect the turn signal switch connector.
  • Use a terminal remover tool to disconnect the buzzer switch wires from the turn signal switch connector. Remove the buzzer switch assembly with needle-nose pliers.
  • Place the lock cylinder in the ACC position, then remove the lock retaining screw and the lock cylinder set.
  • To install the new cylinder lock, reverse the removal procedures.
  • Tighten the lock retaining screw to 22 inch lbs., the turn signal switch screws to 59 inch lbs. and turn the turn signal lever screw to 53 inch lbs.
  • As part of the final replacement procedures, check the operation of the switches and the steering column.

I have a 2008 kia

Hi there,

If you have your diagnostic codes read from your vehicle's computer, this will determine which circuit and/or component is malfunctioning (or simply not connected).

Your local Kia Dealership can do this for you (20mins) for a small fee.

Cheers,

My car has a multiple misfire the check engine

Remove the spark plug using a ratchet, 12" extension, and swivel spark plug removal socket of the appropriate size for your spark plug hex (5/8" or 13/16" or metric).

Check the gap and make sure it is within specs. as listed on the sticker on your car or manual, if so equipped.

Also, note that a multiple misfire can be the result of a plugged up or dirty or bad O2 sensor.

Have the car scanned by the Kia Dealer, Advance or Autozone to see if what codes you OBD-II system has.

How many miles do you have on it?

Thanks for asking Fixya.com.
