Holden Commodore VX fuel gauge stuck on full after converting from V6 to V8 LS one.
Question edited to add maker.
Question moved to make model category.
Okay Fred we can work with this post rather than the last one.
You did a conversion that is fraught with dangers. Your car is driven and operated by computers and you changed the engine. Everything electronically is looking for the V6 engine that was there before. My gut feeling is that you need an ECM and BCM from a V8. The best course of action is to find a good local auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer. He might be able to reprogram it or flash it.
Of course a simple reason is that the fuel gauge sender is broken. An electrician can check that.
Holden Commodore (VR). I've lost my keys but have access to car. Is there a way to bypass the immobilizer and just start it from black box at back of ignition?
Question edited for clarity and Australian English :>D
Question moved to a better category.
No, the immobilizer system is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. The car doesn't know that you are the owner. The workings are complex, a transponder chip in the key to a receiver in the steering column which communicated to the anti-theft / security / alarm module which relays information to the ECM which allows power to the ignition system. You have to fix what is wrong, not find a way around it.
The dealer will make you a key based on the VIN number, or a good mobile locksmith may be able to help with key cutting and programming.
Vt shifter button
this is not an uncommon problem.
you will need to go to your local holden dealer and purchase a new gear shift button.
To fit the new gear shift button you will need to remove the centre console insert and the screw that holds the t-bar trim in position..
VT holden wont start
check for broken timing belt/chain
check crank/cam position sensors
check that the immobilizer is operational

Vs is revving high in idle. Can I adjust that somewhere
I am not too familiar with Australian vehicles, except the rebadged Holden Monero that was sold as a "Pontiac GTO" in the States in 2005 and 2006, and since your Holden is likely to be a GM vehicle, I am sure the same diagnosis applies. You have what is called an Idle Air Control valve that is located on the throttle body. If it is stuck in the wide open position, it will cause your engine to race. I would say that is the first place to look. GM has a huge problem with their IAC valves going bad.
