2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 5.3 litre

I have seen Belive it or not Oxygen sensors cause this, if the sensor is pegged rich or lean on that bank it will make the fuel trim to rich or to lean and then the engine will misfire, check the wires to the oxygen sensors and make sure that they are not broken or rubbed through... there is a spot on the passenger side right where the wiring harness crosses the frame that i have seen them rub on and brake the wires.... if the wires are ok try and disconnect the oxygen sensors one at a time on the passenger side and see if the miss goes away..... if not i have seen one other truck where the intake manifold gasket on the passenger side had blown out and was causing a vacuum leak between cylinders and causing a missfire hope this helps some...

When air conditioning is on

Not knowing the age- I will say that back in the days of carbs- there was a solenoid which increase the idle speed when the AC was turned on. This is done by the computer in a modern car, so your computer is not being told to raise the idle speed with the AC on. You may have an error code for this. either way looks like dealership to fix this one.

Driving on highway, droped out

First of all I assume this is an automatic with O.D. First check the transmission fluid level. If this has dropped to low, the transmission will not engage the higher gears. If this is not low, pull the transmission pan and replace or have replaced the trans filter. At this point, with the transmission pan pulled you should inspect the gears and clutches for damage. The pan will show sign of metal flakes, if not chunks of the gears or clutches in the bottom. This would be best handled by a professional and not be too costly. If this is the case then your problem is much bigger and will be much more costly. I hope this helps.

4x4 will not engage.

  • This may sound moot but there are many occasions that removing the positive battery terminal for a couple minutes and then re attaching it did the trick.
  • The 4x4 Transfer Case Electronic Module is on the passenger side kick panel. Check the connector and connection real good for corrosion and broken posts. They can be replaced if need be.
  • Make sure the transfer case is filled properly.

2003 CHEVY AVALANCHE

Have you checked your U-joints in your drive shaft? Take it down and move the U-joints by hand. If you feel ANY looseness or binding at all, this is probably your problem. They should swing both directions very smoothly and without any side-to-side movement.

Removing a drivers side front

To remove the door panel, remove any screws that are in the vicinity of pull handles and door pockets. These screws will be under little trim covers that you need to prise off to get to their heads. Look for the screws around the edge of the panel and also the screw in the latch release handle recess.
The lock knob, if there is one there, will have to be screwed off and then carefully work your way around the door, freeing the panel's clips from their holes in the door frame. (Doot panels are brittle and clip break out easily).
Finally the panel will probably have to be lifted out if the window slot. (If the panel does not come off, work out what is retaining it and remove that screw or slide it off the clip that is still holding the panel. Disconnect any electrical plugs behind the panel. Under the panel you will find a plastic dust sheet that is stuck to the door frame, remove this carefully, you will have to replace it before replacing the panel.

This past weekend I was

Your 4WD system is computer controlled & there is a failure code set in the TCCM (transfer case control module). This can be verified with the use of a scan tool that will access the TCCM system find wiring problems (grounds, shorted circuits) & control modules to be at fault. Test these circuits wit a 12 volt test lamp or volt meter.

Additionally, other easiest way to check another posibilitie is to remove the actuator, take a screw driver and stick it in the opening, you should feel spring pressure. Push in on the screwdriver, there is a slider/blocking ring assembly and fork internal in the housing that the actuator pushes on.What I want you to do is manually engage it ,or at least try to.

While holding pressure against the slider with the screwdriver turn the front driveshaft , this should engage the front diff. If it does not turn the cv axles then we have just confirmed the problem is internal.

I have seen alot of problems with these differentials. There are several washers and selective shims that go bad, also the diff shaft has a snub on the end of it what happens is that breaks and the washer falls down into the case then jams in between the slider. This does not allow the fork to travel therfore not engaging the 4X4.

I have a 2004 Chevy

Iwould tend to dough that its comeing from below . You say it will dry out if the weather is dry . Iwould suspect the windsheild possible leaking down behind the dashboard first . But look under the vehicle if it is getting in there it would have to be thrown from the front tire because the rain or snow would run off the thing so there would be some kind of a hole But i realy think the windsheild is the most likely cause if it were the passanger side i would say heater core witch is an other possibalty however you would likely see or smell antifreeze .The olny other thing that i can think of is if you have a sun or moon roof they have drains that out in the front cab corners through rubber hoses that run from the roof unit to the corners. Your going to have to take a hose and try differant spots and see if you can make it leak but do one area at a time and look for water . I wish you luck but i still think windsheild

I don't know if it

2005 Chevy Avalanche. And you did the Throttle body sensor. Reduce power light coming on, APP and TPS that a shot in the dark, As for the EGR if that is a problem The vehicle is a speed density it also uses a MAF (mass air flow) . Whenever that light comes on I'm finding it in the transmission parameter not the TPS or APP (accelerator pedal position) first the 2005 Transmission has a high failure record, There is a transmission pressure control solenoid that is given wrong input data and send the transmission to self destruct. If this is your second problem similar to last year go ahead put a throttle body sensor, but the APP need to be in sequence with it. As for the EGR no it wont cause sluggish failure it is monitored by the MAF if the MAF fails then its back up by the MAP. For the reduced power light get the ECM reflashed

Driving down the road and

It sounds like you either have a dirty filter, or a solenoid is faulty in the transmission. Change the fluid and filter, put some Lucas transmission oil in it and see if that resolves the issue. If the solenoid is dirty then it will cause the transmission to shift improperly, the Lucas will clean it.
