Starter solenoid could be sticking ..solenoid is bad ..more then likely
They have new ignition switches on eBay for $5.00 10.00 mine was bad too just old I have the same model.. It works perfect now..
Just take off the front cover and you will see the
wiring harness plug. And the key switch is being help by a clamp like on a door of a car unhook the wires and the clamp and take it change it make sure you include make model to make sure you get the right one otherwise you have to hot wire it... Or it could be your start button they also have them on eBay too. Good luck..
I love mine it starts rain sun or snow lol.
Sense my husband changed the switch.. And the key...
THE BUTTON IS BAD, REPLACE IT

Try shorting across tha 2 large terminals on the solinoid and note if the starter motor runs, if so maybe you can open and clean the starter solinoid or else if it is press sealed you need to change it. If the starter motor does not run when shorted change the motor. Be carefull sparks will fly!

If after starting and while it is running disconnect the battery...if it still runs then the alternator is working. Also you can connect a volt meter accross the battery and it should read 13-15 volts if working.

A little vibration is normal.
Check all three motor mounts. They should be tight and the rubber insulator should be firm.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. There is an adjustment on the front of the engine for this. Look for a 14mm nut with a flatblade screw in the center of it. Loosen the lock nut while holding the adjuster screw. Hold the nut and turn the screw in the "decrease" direction (marked on the case above the screw) until resistance is felt. Turn the screw back the other way 1/4 turn and tighten the lock nut while holding the screw in this position. If this does not fix your symptom the damage has been done and internal clutch component replacement will be necessary.
Considering the year model it could easily be a faulty connection from loose or contaminated wiring.,relays.,Alternator..Save time and check rectifier/regulator before wiring nightmare...Start and run engine sitting still at 2000 rpm.for 1 minute..,Shut it off.Carefully touch regulator ...If it is Extremely hot it is your problem. If not take it to mechanic..I would save time and troubleshooting nightmares because wiring will drive you crazy If you know nothing about it..Take to a Motorcycle Tech and let him repair it correctly ...Then he will explain the problem
