You are probably not going to find assembly instructions. If you can't find all the parts or screws then get another cap. Google " motorcycle salvage yamaha " and you can probably find one at a much lower cost than the dealer would give. By the way, forget any loose screws in the gas tank. The stuff can not get past the fuel valve and filter and are not going to hurt anything.

Try Babbitt's and a salvage yard.
Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part and/or the notation "Not Available" is in the description, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx
Google motorcycle salvage yamaha. See what you can find there. Also Google classic motorcycle parts
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?

There should be a release on the side of the seat. It may require a key to unlock it.
A service manual is a valuable tool with an aging bike. I suggest the
dealer/mfr. or Clymer books. In the meantime, go to the library
reference section...646 stacks should have what you need.
