Ooppsss.. FIRST - get the carbs cleaned and set by a factory trained tech!! That will clear up a lot...if it continues to smoke out the right side.. your right side crankshaft oil seal is probably leaking.. use a professional!!!

SOURCE: 2003 WR250 F - eng. won't idle down and carb starts to overflow

Hi Jwelden,
Have you checked the float level in the float chamber?
I guess you may have to reset the float pin adjustment, its allowing more gas to pass through thn required and thus the overflow!
Not bad too, when you are working on the float assembly take the opportunity to blow out the fuel line from petcock to the carburator via the seat for the float pin,any foreign particals there would stop the float pin to seal up and thus overflow.
Fit in an inline fuel filter , this will help keep out the dirt or whatever.
Hope this helps.

yes, the breather line hooks to the petcock on the line facing the back, the fuel line hooks to the larger one. the line from the breather is actually a vacume line that turns on the fuel, without it you will not get fuel out of the petcock unless it is in the prime position.

SOURCE: Rebuilt carbs. flooding rear cylinder

My bike started doing the same thing. I pulled the carbs put new kits in them and it still does the same thing. It does not seem like a spark issue because the fuel consumption would not be this bad, but the floats looked good. The needle valves and seats are new. I am not sure what to think at this point. I even replaced the intake manifolds and flushed my fuel system. It starts good initially. It is almost like the fuel pump is pushing to much pressure and over coming the needle valve. Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks,

SOURCE: banshee wont rev

Usually related to TORS, specifically the safety switch in the clutch/park brake assembly. If it's defective the engine won't rev. Solution: look for a TORS removal kit.

SOURCE: 2002 YAMAHA BANSHEE WILL NOT REV

I have a 2004 banshee at the yamaha dealer being worked on.It would not run when i took it up there they cleaned the carbs and put it back together it will start but when you rev it, it holds itself wide open and wont shut down unless you pull the plug wires.they also checked the floats in the carbs said they where ok. they think it is a vent issue with the gas tank or the fuel shut off valve.IS THAT POSSIBLE

2005 Yamaha Bruin 350 ATV. What will cause my ATV not to run? Gas is coming from drain tube?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from motorcycles to ATV model category.

Turning over has nothing to do with the carburetor! Your battery is flat. It will need charging.

If the carb is leaking, it is because the float is set wrong or the float valve needle isn't seating properly.

Engines only need three things to run.

A supply of clean fresh fuel (not sitting a year)
A Spark at the right time.
Compression.

You say you cleaned the carb **in** carb cleaner, as opposed to *with* carb cleaner. Did you strip it down, check the float for holes, clean the jets and needles?

Check spark plugs.
Clean Carb.
Check timing.

More here, it is a known issue.

sounds like the petcock is clogged or broken. runs off fuel in the bowl till it runs out. then after a while it gets refilled slowly and repeats.

fuel overflow from the carb is usually caused by dirty or incorrectly adjusted floats and float needle.

Diagram for carb on 350 bruin

I am going to go with a few taps on the side of the carb around the bowl .. use the handle of a screwdriver .. it is mostlikely a stuck float.. if that doesn't fix it take the carb off pull the bowl look at the needle and seat make sure there isn't something keeping the needle from fitting snugly into the seat. Not sure if the tip of the needle is rubber or the seat it's self on this carb.. one or the other will be. Look for cracks in the rubber. If none I would try to re adjust the float setting ..

Hey Mike,
Sounds like your carburetors need a qualified professional to clean and set them... I have built several race banshee's.. the carburetors being perfect are essential to making it run good..
The compression should be at least 125PSI on each cyl. MINIMUM.
