Remove the rear cover and check the lamp cover switch. Earlier versions used a black plastic switch holder that may break due to improper assembly. The part number for the holder is BP61-01240A. Newer versions use a metal tab attached to the engine. In this case, improper assembly may cause the lamp cover switch to be extended past its range, either breaking the switch or causing it to have an open contact. Replace the switch with BP91-01231A.

Note that in these models, when reinstalling the rear cover, it is best to remove the lamp cover first, install the rear cover, then install the lamp cover. This will make sure that the lamp switch is properly engaged.

I have the same problem on my 42" Samsung. It started as one dot now there are six. The TV repair shop told me they can sometimes fix it by adjsuting the voltages. If not it is the DMD board. I called Samsung on Jan. 6/11. They told me that as of Dec. 31/10 they would no longer repair the sets for free.

You will actually get white and black dots , the black ones are tougher to see because of the color in the background , within 2 months youre picture will be fully covered with dots....I went through the Samsung website troubleshooting flow chart , and it led me to a bad Digital Micromiror Device , or DMD board . What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color . Samsung will not tell me the part number of the chip , they will only offer to send a service tech to my house .

I would have the Power Supply board and the Ballast replaced. Samsung recommends replacing both these items together. You can call 1-800-samsung to find the nearest authorized service center.

I would use a program called testdisk which contains photorec. Also be sure to use a second drive to restore files too so that the original files are not over-written. After you recover your files you can see if the drive will format.

Sounds like the color wheel is not turning properly. I would recommend calling 1-800-samsung to set up repair with an authorized service center. I would not try to replace it yourself. The part costs $120.00- $180.00.

main pcb approx $72.00 at
http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bp94-00434a-main-analog-board.htm
however thay are out of stock. Be sure this part # is a match to your complete model# B4 trying to order, this site lists the various models this pt# fits.ALSO considering the age, they may not be able to get anymore of these.I recommend calling to confirm.

As for firmware updates, that info can be found at Samsung web site:

under product support. you might also check at the Samsung web site for the Main PCB. expect it to be much higher & please have your complete Model & Serial numbers available when you contact anyone.
