Leaking Debris Filter after cleaning and replacing
Happy to find someone with the exact same issue I'm having, misery loves company!
1st: The leak was clearly coming from the debris filter...however it was stuck and would not turn (constant clicks).
Foolishly I tried and tried again, until realizing I would need to take apart the filter to reach it.
Once that was done, using pliers I turned the debris filter, and pulled it out, there was indeed an obstruction.
After re-assembling and testing - no dice, still leaking.
I DID however, notice the grease that you had mentioned - and now after fiddling with it so much, very little if
any was left.
I ordered a new filter thinking we had ruptured or damaged it...no dice, still leaking.
Finally - I tried something a friend mentioned - plumbers tape.
With your filter off the washer and in-hand, wrap the tape around the thread of the filter head, I did this first
about 4 times around the head, and tested seeing the leaking had decreased by about 50%. Another 4 times ceased the
I can only assume that there was originally a wall of grease that stopped this from happening in the first place.
