, : Control Lock
The Control Lock feature helps prevent settings from being changed during a cycle. Selecting this feature locks all of the buttons, except for the Power button, on the control panel. This feature does not lock the door.
While a cycle is running, press and hold Half Load and Energy Saver simultaneously for three seconds to activate or deactivate Control Lock.
- To start a new cycle, deactivate Control Lock.

Remove the back panel of the machine and look for a fan belt that may have broken not allowing the pump to function at all.... if so replace the belt and wah your clothes. if it I still there then fill the tub half way and drain it if the belt doesn't move then replace the belt.. fill the tub half way and try it again...

Most washing machines won't start a spin cycle until they've fully drained the water from the wash. If your machine is draining very slowly (or won't drain at all) the most likely cause is a blockage somewhere in the drainage system. ... You'll usually find it behind a flap at the bottom of most front loading machines

Happy to find someone with the exact same issue I'm having, misery loves company!
1st: The leak was clearly coming from the debris filter...however it was stuck and would not turn (constant clicks).
Foolishly I tried and tried again, until realizing I would need to take apart the filter to reach it.
Once that was done, using pliers I turned the debris filter, and pulled it out, there was indeed an obstruction.
After re-assembling and testing - no dice, still leaking.
I DID however, notice the grease that you had mentioned - and now after fiddling with it so much, very little if
any was left.
I ordered a new filter thinking we had ruptured or damaged it...no dice, still leaking.
Finally - I tried something a friend mentioned - plumbers tape.
With your filter off the washer and in-hand, wrap the tape around the thread of the filter head, I did this first
about 4 times around the head, and tested seeing the leaking had decreased by about 50%. Another 4 times ceased the
leaking altogether.
I can only assume that there was originally a wall of grease that stopped this from happening in the first place.

Do you mean it shuts off during spin cycle? It is supposed to if the load is unbalanced. Try redistributing the load to see if that helps.

In 2006 whirlpool Corp bought Maytag. In my opinion Maytag had the best washers and whirlpool the best dryers. My Maytag washer pre merger. Collected small amounts of water. I had it serviced and watched the repairman. Removed panel to open up the inside. Basically it was a partially clogged drain. If I recall there was clamp to release to open. Unclog the tube. If you have pets in house this is a common issue. A little water will not be an issue.

The display shows E4. What does it mean? The laundry load is unbalanced; Loosen any tangled laundry. If only one item of clothing needs washing, such as a bathrobe or jeans, the final spin result might be unsatisfactory and an 'E4' error message will be shown on the display.Apr 25, 2018
