The computer needs maintenance periodically just like a car needs servicing. The computer generates temporary files when it is running and these consume hard disk space if they are not removed, also these files will slow down your computer.
To service your computer you should at lease once a month do a Disk Cleanup and a Defrag.
The Recycle bin should be emptied periodically.

To do a Disk Cleanup Click on My Computer, then right click on the C Drive, then click on Properties, then Disk Cleanup, then tick all the boxes to recover the hard disk space. (This process could take a few hours depending when it was last done and the size of the hard disk).

To do a Defrag, click on Programs, click on Accessories, then System Tools, then Defrag. then select the C Drive, then start the Defrag.

Again this will take a long time, you may want to start these processes overnight, don't stop them let them run till they finish. The next time you run them, it will not take as long.

Take battery out. Unplug power. Push power button. reconnect battery. press power it should start. If you have a slim model you may have to take the bottom off to access the battery. The 4 black blocks on the bottom once inside are the battery cells. About the middle of these cells is a cable that connects to the motherboard. unplug it... press power button. now connect the battery and close the laptop back up. press power and it should start.

Alan, this is a product support website. As such they do not sell, nor buy. Just try to help people.

How about posting the laptop manufacturer name, and model number?
The model number can be found on the Bottom of the laptop.

Post back in a Comment.

To delete the Acer Aspire Notebook HDD user password, go to http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_Acer_HDD.php The link above will show you to enter 3 wrong password and then copy down the 5 or 8 digit code it displays with Disabled message. Purchase the Acer HDD master password from the link above and submit the code and your model and they will email you the bios master password to unlock your Acer HDD in an hour.. They guarantee it to work or your money back and I have used them successfully dozens of times, saving me a ton of time and money.

Hi liquidblue7,

If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.

Here are some steps that you can try.

1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left from the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)

2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor. You may need to press the Fn + F10 or F6, depends on the key designed on the keyboard to toggle between displays.

3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.

4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit, try using one RAM at a time to see if it works. A faulty RAM will cause the issue not to POST.

5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

Hi

You could try hitting the f10 key at the top of your keyboard as soon as you start the computer that should take you into factory restore to start with it looks likes its loading windows but in about a min it takes you into the option to take back to factory settings

If f10 dont work try alt\f10 or the blue fn\f10

if none of them work hit the delete key on startup and go into bios to make sure that f10 is not disabled because sometimes it is by default disabled

But be very carefull not to alter anything else in the bios or you could and probably have big problems just enable f10 0r f12 if they are disabled then hit save click yes

windows will then restart and try the f10 key again

good luck

I think that is a driver problem, try to reinstall de windows OS and it may function, then you can download the original complete drivers of http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3680.html depending of the OS that you install.
