Hi, Every PC-Laptop has BIOS otherwise nothing would work at all. Try turning the PC on & hold down ALT & F4 together that should get you into the BIOS. As far as having no display then your Video card must be not working & needs replacing. Please leave me feed back: Malcolm Campbell, Thanks.

Not uncommon. Try using a registry cleaning programme.

Acer Aspire... | Answered on Nov 22, 2014

Usually a bit of house cleaning will help. You need to disable unnecessary startup/running processes/programs. Your specs say your OS is Windows Vista, use this procedure to speedup: http://www.pcworld.com/article/143538/windows_vista.html Try two freeware programs, 1, CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program has many useful tools the cleaner and registry will remove junk and free up HDD space. In the TOOLS section, select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs. In the UNINSTALL section remove all unnecessary programs. 2, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Remove ALL toolbars and unnecessary Extensions from your web browsers. The sidebar is a memory hog, consider adding more memory. If your version of windows vista is 32 bit, it will only support 3.80+or-GBs so 4GBs would be the limit. Have you cleaned the fan, vents, and heatsink lately? Use a can of compressed Air to remove dust, dirt to restore air flow. You could always do a Full Factory Recovery, but that would be a last resort, it can be quite a long process.

Stops? Powers off? Can you explain what happens in detail? Unplug, remove battery, plug in, boot, what happens, Windows Logo appears, then what?

Acer Aspire... | Answered on Dec 31, 2012

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

if this fails to fix the problem

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell what file has been corrupted or missing you might be able to work your way through problem if you are unable to find a solution

restart back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time
click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option

hope this helps

you could try this

go to the start button
go to the search box
and type in cmd
this may bring up a black box
type into the box chkdsk

and windows may check and poss repair the disk for you

failing that
restart the laptop pressing the F8 key
this may take you into a repair options box
try some of these options
my first choice is asways the last known good configuration option
and if that dont work

i go through the other options of repair

good luck
hope this will help you

Remove the power adapter and battery from the laptop.
Remove the plastic buttons bezel. This is where the power button and some LED lights are. There are usually indentations on one of the sides that will help you to lift it up. It's held in by clips, so be careful as these bezels snap easily if they flex too much. Now remove the screws holding in the keyboard. Lift the keyboard up very very slowly until you see the ribbon cable that connects it to the laptop's motherboard. Lift the tab on the connecter and pull the cable out carefully. You have now removed they keyboard.
Good luck.

select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps
