Silverado power mirror/s do not work.
Assuming you have power to the switch, the switch contacts are bad. Each contact may go bad at different times.Pry the switch panel from the door, disconnect the plug to the switch, a small screwdriver may help. Remove the switch by pushing the retaining lugs in & pry out.
Now take it to a clean workbench along with 2 small thin screwdrivers.
Insert 1 driver in beside one of the keeper lugs & pry slightly, continue to the next until the switch comes apart. No springs will fly out.
You will see a control knob & housing, A blue vinyl like cover, Lift the blue cover off, now you will see the contacts on the board.
Take a cotton swab with carb cleaner & scrub the contacts, even a piece of 320 sandpaper.
Next, on the under side of the blue vinyl like cover there brass like contacts fixed to the cover, they need cleaning.
I cut a few 1/8'''x1/8'' # 320 sandpaper,A 1/8'' dowel & hot glued a piece of s-paper on the 1/8'' x6'' dowel.
I then carefully slowly spun the s-paper on the contact. then to the next contact with a new piece of sandpaper & so on.
Lastly cleaning with carb cleaner & blowing dry.
Reassemble, hookup & test Walla! both mirrors work. Time, 20 to 30 min.

This is/was a common problem with this and other related models that is specifically related to wiring that is loose, pinched a/or damaged. It can also be related to the wrong amperage on the fuse. Here's a helpful YouTube video.

On the steering wheel is the hand controls. Scanning is stuck because of dirt or something. Push the buttons, blow out dirt, wash it off. Mine worked fine after that. (How annoying up til then though. Hope this works. Russ Werth Bowman ND

You should have an alignment on all 4 wheels. Check that the rear axle has not shifted forward or backward on one side. If you have Rear Disc Brakes, have the Hub & Rotor checked for alignment. Does this shaking happen all of the time or just when turning? Does it only happen when you apply the brakes? A Rotor and Hub that is out of alignment will cause shaking. Also check that the Caliper Slide Bolts are lubricated, otherwise the caliper will not operate correctly and the inside of the rotor will wear out faster. This can cause shaking also.

Hi,

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

To my knowledge, Cruise Control would be relatively difficult to diagnose without a scan tool attached to the control module to read the error codes. Additionally, car versions in my country seldom have such a device since our roads are narrower and travel distance is not that great.

Though most known causes are:
  • the connector to the module;
  • loose brake pedal/switch;
  • loose clutch pedal/switch (for manual transmission);
  • vacuum line to actuator (most likely), vacuum actuator, diaphragm, control valve.
Other possible components to check are:
  • the control module itself (bolted to the firewall);
  • control cable or linkage;
  • speedometer sensor;
  • steering wheel controls switches;
  • throttle position sensor.
As posted above, quite a number of possibilities. Any other indications, speedometer OK; abnormal throttle responses; abnormal idling, brake light always ON, slack in the accelerator/gas pedal? Was it cutting in/out before? Was there any recent repair work done on the engine before the cruise control cut out?

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

drain the oil from the front diff and check for metal flakes
If you have flakes --diff problems
if the oil is clean then look else where --like cv joints or "U" joints in drive shafts

Just for fun,clamp off the heater hoses,just squeeze them flat in place to stop the hot coolant flow through the heater core.Take it for a spin and see if the a/c stays cold.Sometimes with increased hot coolant flow through the heater core with increased engine rpm (driving) and a leaky air flow door in the a/c heater assembly,it can be hard to keep the a/c air cold.

This is an extremely difficult problem you have the biggest issue is the door won't open .I'm guessing you have a key less entry system if so can you hear the motor move for the lock in the door dose it have power dose the window work up and down .
This will tell you if the problem is electrical or mechanical if the motor is bad you will hear nothing if the clip broke or popped off.it will make noise.
Worse case you will have to take the other door apart take a close look at how it works then drill a hole in the broken door from the inside at a spot ware you can talk a screw driver and manually pop the lock open.
Well I didn't say it would be easy but if you look closely anyone could do it.

The ABS unit should have the connection IDs embossed into the casting at every line connection.You are going to HAVE TO determine every connection line going to every component to make this work.

This will set C (chassis) codes. You need to start there as the encoder motor (what performs the electronic shifting for the T-case drive modes {4-hi,2-hi-4lo}) will set codes that will enable you to quickly confirm if the encoder motor is indeed the problem. This is very common given the age of the vehicle.

It is likely that you'll need to replace the temp door actuator, more likely it is bad than the temp control.

Number one you didn't get Freon in your charge. So if you paid for Freon which is super expensive you got ripped off. It takes r134. And just cause you. Charged the system did you have the system tested. If not tested by a good hvac shop you may have clogged filters or other issues including your bad controls. Also it may have leaked out again if there is a leak

If you have an autozone in your area, take it there. Ask them to plug in the obd unit and diagnose your issue. They can give you a printout of what the issue the obd is seeing, can sell you parts, and even show you how to replace whatever.
